Stock Mauser GEW 98 modified Sporter project long action large ring checkered.
Looks to be a Gewehr 98 G98 Gew 98  M98 German bolt-action rifle.
It does not have any cracks in the trigger receiver area.
The original sling swivel was filled in and then placed further down the stock.
The stock disk was filled in and then checkered. The grip feels comfortable. The but plate is missing, but it is the standard Mauser but plate, the screw holes are good. Recoil lug is not tightened.The cleaning rod hole was filled in.
This would be a fun vintage restoration, customized, sporter project for someone who is talented or learning with working on stocks and wood and appreciates Mausers.
