$ 527.99

Description

You are bidding on a NICE example of a WW1 German Fliegertruppen / Luftfahrttruppen Flugzeug Borduhr (Aircraft Cockpit Clock), as used in various aircraft!  This display was made during the war, and includes a brass trench art
Rumpler Taube affixed to the top!
This early-war Cockpit Clock dates around 1914.
It was mounted on the forward instrument panel and indicated the current time.
These were usually a standard pocket watch movement, with a specific case, designed for mounting directly onto the panel.
Made of aluminum, brass, and steel, this WW1 Aircraft Clock is in EXCELLENT used condition!
Over 100 years old, the dial is VERY CLEAR, but as with most clocks this age, does feature some hairline cracks and wear.
No manufacture is present, but it appears to be a Doxa or similar 8-day movement.  Due to the age there are some marks, scratches, and wear, but otherwise VERY solid.
It is 100% functional, however it is missing the winding key at the bottom.  It can still be wound manually, and I have it running for almost 8 days.  The key to adjust the time is also missing, but those can be found on eBay quite cheaply.  Upon opening the movement, I did notice that the gear that adjusts the time is loose, so it  may need to be secured more effectively.
I
t comes affixed to a wood base/stand that has a BEAUTIFUL trench-art piece depicting a Rumpler Taube!  The tail is a bit loose (stabilizer needs to be reaffixed), but it is still solid.  A RARE item, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!

-------------------- ABOUT ME -----------------
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
