    Photo of
    Manfred von Richthofen
in his Leather Flying Coat with Pour-le-Merite
    Perfect for Framing
Photo of Manfred von Richthofen (the famed Red Baron).  This is the classic pose of him in his flying jacket with upturned collar, proudly displaying his Pour-le-Merite.  The image was taken from Sanke card # 503 (from my collection). Richthofen was the leader of Jagdgeschwader 1 which was comprised of Jastas 4, 6, 10 and 11 and the top scoring pilot of WWI. This photo is one of the best images of von Richthofen and the Sanke card it came from is one of the most highly sought after cards. I have removed all the writing and "cleaned-up" the image.
I have removed all the writing and "cleaned-up" the image. The photo measures approx. 5 1/4" X 8" and is better than 3 times the size of the orignal postcard while still retaining a clear image. Matted and put into a standard 9 X 13 picture frame it would be a handsome addition to any WWI collection. Winning bidder to pay shipping.
